1. Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to the Pdfware website, its public document tools, and communications sent to Pdfware. “Pdfware,” “we,” and “us” refer to the operator of this website. Questions can be sent to hello@pdfware.online or through the contact page.
2. Browser-based document processing
Current PDF tools identified as browser-based process files locally using code running in your web browser. The browser reads the files you select, performs the requested operation in memory, and creates a local download. Pdfware does not receive or store the contents of those files.
Local processing may use browser technologies such as JavaScript, WebAssembly, canvas, temporary object URLs, and in-memory file buffers. Temporary browser memory is released when results are cleared, object URLs are revoked, the page is closed, or the browser reclaims memory. Downloaded results remain wherever you save them on your device.
Every tool page describes its processing model. If a future tool requires server-side processing, we will identify that behavior before a file is submitted and update this policy with the relevant retention and deletion terms.
3. Information we may process
- Contact information: your name, email address, subject, and message when a production contact channel is used.
- Technical information: hosting and security providers may record an IP address, request time, requested URL, user agent, and diagnostic information in standard server logs.
- Preferences: the site may store settings such as theme choice in local browser storage.
- Document files: files used by browser-based tools are not collected by Pdfware.
The contact form currently uses a local placeholder handler and does not deliver data to a backend. This policy will be updated when production message delivery is enabled.
4. Why information is used
Information may be used to operate and secure the website, respond to messages, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, understand aggregate service reliability, comply with legal obligations, and protect the rights and safety of users and Pdfware.
6. Analytics
The current application contains an analytics integration point but no external analytics provider is configured. Tool events are therefore not sent to a third-party analytics service by default.
If analytics is enabled later, we will favor data minimization, document the provider and purpose here, and request consent where applicable. Analytics will not include the contents of files processed locally.
7. Third-party services and disclosures
Pdfware may rely on service providers for hosting, content delivery, security, dependency distribution, and email delivery. Providers may process limited technical or communication data only to provide those services, subject to their agreements and applicable law.
We may disclose information when required by law, to protect legal rights or safety, or as part of a business transaction with appropriate safeguards. We do not sell document contents or personal information.
8. File handling and data retention
- Browser-processed files are not retained by Pdfware servers.
- Local results remain on your device according to your browser and download choices.
- Contact messages, once backend delivery is enabled, will be retained only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain records, prevent abuse, or meet legal duties.
- Security and hosting logs may be retained for limited periods set by the applicable provider and operational requirements.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information. No website, browser, transmission, or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep original documents backed up and avoid sending passwords or sensitive file contents through contact messages.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an objection to certain processing. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent and complain to an appropriate data protection authority.
Submit a request through the contact page or email hello@pdfware.online. We may need reasonable information to verify your identity. These rights may be subject to lawful exceptions.
11. Children’s privacy
Pdfware is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child supplied personal information should contact us.
12. International processing
Hosting or communication providers may process limited information in countries other than your own. Where required, appropriate contractual or legal safeguards will be used. Browser-based document contents remain on your device rather than being transferred by Pdfware.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when services, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated date will appear at the top of this page. Material changes will receive additional notice where appropriate.
14. Contact
Privacy questions and requests can be sent to hello@pdfware.online or submitted through the contact page.
